Overview

Zambia, the land of the legendary African walking safari and the majestic Victoria Falls,
welcomes visitors to its wild Zambezi River, breathtaking lakes, and captivating
wetlands—all within the embrace of one friendly country.
Encompassing 750,000 square kilometers and nestled between the tropics, Zambia boasts a high undulating plateau, crisscrossed by the great valleys of the Zambezi, Kafue, Luangwa, and Luapula rivers. Thanks to its altitude and rainfall patterns, Zambia enjoys a moderate climate, offering respite from the sweltering heat often associated with tropical regions.

Formerly known as Northern Rhodesia, Zambia attained independence in 1964. Transitioning from a one-party state to a multi-party democracy in 1990, Zambia’s diverse population of approximately 12 million people, representing 72 distinct tribes, is renowned for its charmingly hospitable nature.

While Zambia’s tourist industry developed relatively late, the country is blessed with vast expanses of pristine wilderness, preserving an authentic essence of the wild—beautiful and delightfully unpredictable. Its landscape is a tapestry of large and small miombo woodlands, interspersed with lush open spaces. Lake Bangweulu and its surrounding floodplains, where Livingstone left his mark, embody the soul of Africa’s untamed spirit.br>
With the largest water resources in Southern Africa, Zambia boasts magnificent lakes, cascading waterfalls, and meandering rivers, nurturing verdant vegetation capable of sustaining diverse wildlife. Home to 750 bird species, resident and migrant alike, Zambia is a paradise for birdwatchers. Protected wildlife areas provide sanctuary for herds of elephants, buffaloes, and an array of predators, with leopards thriving in this rich ecosystem. Zambia’s herbivores, characterized by endemic races evolved over time, showcase the country’s unique biodiversity.

Zambia stands as one of Africa’s safari gems, relatively underdeveloped and unexplored, where the true essence of safari living thrives. Embark on an authentic "walking safari" and immerse yourself in the timeless allure of a lost Africa, where the spirit of adventure awaits at every turn.
