Spice Routes
Nestled in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar is a breathtaking archipelago known for its stunning beaches, rich history, and vibrant, layered culture. For centuries it was the crossroads of the Arab, Persian, Indian, and European worlds.
The result is something singular: a UNESCO-listed Stone Town laced with carved wooden doors and salt-breezy alleyways; spice plantations where cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon perfume the air; and a coastline of powder-white sand and the most startling shade of blue you will ever see.
We have been bringing travellers here for years. This is our invitation to discover it.
Zanzibar's history is as rich and diverse as its cuisine — a UNESCO World Heritage site that breathes a thousand years of trade winds. Wander the narrow alleyways lined with intricately carved wooden doors and colonial-era mansions. Explore the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the buzzing Darajani Market — where fresh spices and fresh produce create a sensory overload that no photograph can fully capture. This is a city best experienced slowly, on foot, without a map.

Zanzibar earned its nickname through centuries of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and black pepper trade that shaped the entire Indian Ocean economy. Our guided spice tours take you into lush plantation gardens where you'll crush cardamom between your palms, taste vanilla straight from the pod, and understand why Arab traders sailed thousands of miles for these shores. Every tour ends with a feast of Zanzibari cuisine cooked with the very spices you've just harvested.

The long dry season (June to October) offers the best beach conditions, calmest seas, and finest diving visibility. The short dry season (December to February) is ideal for combining with a mainland Tanzania safari. The green season brings lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and dramatic golden light for photography.
June to October offers firm sand, blue skies, and calm diving conditions. If you're combining with a Serengeti migration safari, the timing aligns perfectly.
